Education

The district Giridih has 19 educational block (against 13 CD block) and 4 range Circle. The primary and Upper Primary schools (Middle School) are under administrative control of D.S.E. while the basic schools (Middle school) are under control of S.D.E.O. High Schools (where upper primary section exist) are controlled by D.E.O. Each CD Block comprises with block resource centre. Almost each habitation is covered with Primary school however there is a gap in upper primary school in the district. Each block has a KGBV School. There is no DIET in the district. In the year 1998-99, JANSHALA was launched in the district and concluded in the year of 2003-04. NAREGA is also implemented in the district. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is a comprehensive and integrated flagship progarmme launched in the year 2001-02 to attend universal elementary education in a mission mode. The programme aims to provide useful and relevant elementary education to all children in the 6-14 age group by 2010. It is an initiative to universalize and improve quality of education through decentralized and context specific planning and process based, time bond implementation strategy. The programme lays emphasis on bridging all gender and social gaps at the elementary education level with time bond objectives. The district is well equipped with constructed BRC in all block. All new primary schools, which were upgraded from EGS, have provided with school building. Some of these schools are in progress. The upper primary schools have also received the fund for construction of ACR for each section. Girls Education – 256 Model Girls Cluster are running under NPEGEL to aware girl child in elementary education. 12 KGBV schools are running in the district. In model cluster centers, the out of schools girls are taking vocational training.

Major Strengths:

1. Education at door step. Almost all habitations has been provided with a school within the distance of one km. The district has 3333 school where primary schooling facility provided. For access to upper primary schooling facility we have 1238 middle schools. These schools are within the distance of 3 km. Hence access is not a major problem
2. Decentralized education system – Each school has its VEC where major decision takes place. The fund for educational development directly goes to VEC where interventions actually initiated. Above schools are CRC. The district has 120 CRC’s. Each CD block has a BRC except Suria block which is recently constituted.
3. Reduction in PTR – Due to selection of Para Teacher the existing PTR reduced to 52.
4. Training – Both the community and teachers training are running. For newly recruited para teacher we have induction training and DPE course to trained them in the field of teaching processes.
